Never underestimate the experience of another human, his point of view and how he perceive the world.

Especially if he had a kick-ass life.

The most optimal way for us to grow in this life is to get a mentor, a role model we can interact and learn from directly, but sadly, this is hard to have these days as role models had disappeared from our life and Supreme Men are now a dying breed.

Still, You can grasp the experience of a man’s journey and reflect on it through the books he had written.

I am not saying that you should become a book worm.

In fact, if you were between staying home reading a book or going out experiencing the world, then you should always pick going out and getting the real experience.

1- Man’s Search For Meaning, Viktor E. Frankl:

5 essential books every man should read

Number one on the 5 essential books every man should read list.

This book is the true story of Victor Frankel, a doctor, psychologist, and Holocaust survivor. The story itself is good.

Like other such books, it teaches the reader about conditions in concentration camps and about the will to survive. However, this book rises above the others because of the lessons he distils from the story on human nature. They are influenced by his experience, his education, his studies, and his attitude.

The result is an eye-opening book that won’t leave you feeling down when it’s over.

I think you’ll like it.(Review-Reference)

2- The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho:

5 essential books every man should readNumber Two in the 5 essential books every man should read list.

This book centers on the shepherd Santiago, who has happily tended his flock of sheep and felt quite content for the lifestyle he has chosen.

One night he dreams of a treasure buried at the base of the pyramids.

Unsure what to do with this information, he eventually embarks on a quest to find this treasure (his personal legend) and encounters a host of people who help him, hinder him and provide insight on his journey.

As an allegory, the book explores the author’s views on the meaning and purpose of life, and how we get sidetracked from doing what we truly desire (and value). At one point, he meets a Muslim man who has dreamed of traveling to Mecca his entire life, but has always found excuses why not to go.

Eventually, after his interactions with Santiago, the Muslim man realizes that he has not gone to Mecca because he fears realizing his life’s dream and losing his reason to live.(Review Reference)

3-The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle:

5 essential books every man should read

Number Three on the 5 essential books every man should read list.

This book is laid out in a Q&A format which allows the reader to easily follow what can be complex concepts. Tolle takes a simple premise – live in the now – and does a masterful job explaining how our inability to “free ourselves from the mind” and live in the present causes just about all of our stress and anxiety.

He provides numerous examples for how we can avoid the temptation to drift into the past and obsess about a future that is unlikely to meet our deepest concerns.(Review Reference)

A Brief History of Everything, steeped in extensive research, is still a condensed and simplified version of Wilber’s

massive Sex, Ecology, Spirituality (Shambhala, 1995). It is written in dialog format and aims to be conversational.

It is written in dialog format and aims to be conversational.Nevertheless, the writing is often verbose.Wilber is well-known in New Age or “new paradigm” circles for his contributions to transpersonal theorizing — an
approach that attempts to integrate insights from both mysticism and traditional psychology. In this book he

In this book, he incorporates a vast amount of material from psychology, anthropology, religion, science, philosophy, history, and other disciplines in order to present a comprehensive worldview.

Wilber’s goal is to explain the basic nature of reality as it unfolds from the Big Bang to the present day.

He’s not afraid to criticize and even insult many views often associated with New Age thinking, such as deep ecology, aspects of Jungian thought, and goddess feminism. Yet he cannot assimilate a biblical understanding of God, the universe, and humanity into his sweeping perspective.

In fact, he pays little attention to Christian theism.(Reference Review)

5- Millionaire Next Door, Thomas Stanley:

5 essential books every man should read

Number Five in the 5 essential books every man should read list.

Many people who earn high income, are not rich, the authors worn.

Most people with high incomes fail to accumulate any lasting wealth. They live hyper consumer lifestyles, spending their money as fast as they earn it. In order to accumulate wealth, in order to become rich, one must not only earn a lot (play “good offense”, according to Stanley and Danko), but also develop frugal habits (play “good Defense”).

Most books focus on only one side of the wealth equation: spending less or earning more. It’s refreshing to read a book that makes it clear that both are required to succeed.(Review Reference)

Those are the 5 essential books every man MUST should read in my opinion, these books should be your step one into crafting your life and reality.

If you think I have missed on a great book, please mention it in the comments.

I believe that you can find free "stolen" copies of these books on the internet, even though I believe that it is 10000% better to BUY these books and actually invest money in buying this knowledge - this way you will value it more, later article on that.

But, if you still suffer from a Bum mentality -if you are too cheap to pay 5 dollars for a book that will improve your life, you have a poor man's mentality- then go find the free PDF copies around the internet. BUT DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND READ AT LEAST ONE OF THEM, AREN'T YOU SICK FROM MEDIOCRITY YET? THEN FUCKING DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

That was it Gentlemen, 5 essential books every man should read.

I read “Millionaire Next Door” at least 10 years ago and found it eye-opening. I just read part 1 of “Man’s Search for Meaning” based on your and others’ recommendation (many successful people recommend this too). I wonder what you think about “The Way of the Superior Man: A Spiritual Guide to Mastering the Challenges of Women, Work, and Sexual Desire” David Deida http://www.amazon.com/Way-Superior-Man-Spiritual-Challenges/dp/1591792576/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8

I read it about 10 years ago and sometimes use ideas from it when interacting with women.

Funny. I read all of the five books you mention except for the last one, The Millionaire Next Door. The results? Nothing. Which leads me to conclude that being wealthy is all there is to being happy.

“How to make friends and influence people” by Dale Carnegie. It’s about 100 years old, yet the best psychology book I’ve ever read. It teaches you exactly what drives people and how to use it in your favor as you also develop the best version of yourself. This book really changed my life, from a nerd at home to a let’s call it like that, “cool guy”

I’ve read Psycho-Cybernetics and Success with Stillness, first one is about self-image and mentality and how we have an automatic navigation system that can be utilized and the second book is about meditation and calming our minds and hearts to optimize ourselves for success

I agree that books are a necessity to success in our lives in addition to experiencing a lot.
